OUR SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING
Hi everyone, this is a blog post that will tell you more about sustainable packaging as we commit to being accountable for sustainability and minimum waste. If you have followed our account for long, you might know that to be sustainable and ethical has always been a goal that I am working for. I hope after reading this blog post, you will know more about our ethos and how are we practicing sustainability at LuvLoops.
WHAT IS SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING?
In a nutshell, Sustainable packaging is the development and use of packing which results in improved sustainability. In that case, the materials that you use to pack the products have to be eco-friendly which reduces the environmental impact and ecological footprint.
Ever since I started LuvLoops, I have been thinking about how to make this brand accountable for a sustainable living style. The whole sustainable journey contains three staple steps: recycle, reuse and reduce.
STEP 1: USING RECYCLED MATERIALS
At LuvLoops, all the stickers that we use including address labels are from Avery.co.uk who makes stickers with recycled materials. We were very delighted to have found their products so that we were able to replace our old plastic stickers.
The large letter boxes in which we ship your jewellery pieces are also 100% recyclable and eco-friendly. Moreover, we have also switched our packing paper when we came across Noissue which provides wrapping paper made of eco-friendly materials. Our Thank-you note is also designed and printed in my home studio with recyclable A6 paper cards.
The plastic tape we were using previously has been replaced with recyclable brown paper tape. Previously used transparent plastic tapes have been eliminated, once we learnt about the microplastics it emits at the end of its life cycle.
STEP 2: REUSING PACKAGE COMPONENTS.
With every order we sent your way we include a cute little jewellery pouch which can be reused and help you to store your jewellery pieces. This little pouch has been loved by so many of our customers for a reason. They are reusable and can easily store your jewellery pieces when you are on the go. Besides, they just look so cute :)
STEP 3: REDUCING WASTE
Currently, most of our jewellery pieces are assembled at our home studio in London. When choosing the components for assembly we make sure that we reduce any unnecessary waste. As a small business we are aware that at the moment it is not easy for us to oversee the whole supply chain but as the brand slowly grows we are aiming to spend more resources on making sure that our suppliers put sustainability at the forefront of their business.
Finally, I would like to remind you that as a consumer you have every right to ask your favorite brands and local stores, what steps are they taking to recycle, reuse and reduce waste and I encourage you to do so.
Once again, thank you so much for those of you who appreciate the changes that we made to our packaging and keep supporting us to do better on this. We promise we won't let you down. Our next milestone on this sustainable journey is to use 100% recycled materials and move towards becoming a 100% ethical jewellery brand. We will make sure that we will share our progress on our social platforms so stay tuned :)
See you next time Xx
